Big cities have their own appeal. Abundant opportunities of education, employment and development exist there. But small towns and villages are deprived of better and quality educational facilities. Without spreading education, we can not think of moving towards progressive and enlightened Pakistan. Deprivation of better educational and entertainment opportunities is alarming in small towns and villages.Ficiility of libraries is missing everywhere. During educational career students find nothing to expand their knowledge, to research on an isse, to improvise communication and to read informative books other than the text books. Some colleges have libraries but no arrangement is provided for reading or no one is allowed to issue books. Unquenchable thirst for knowledge can make body and spirit stagnant, creating an environment stinking and morbid.

Welfare organizations work with all fervor and passion to collect donations in crisis-floods, earthquake etc.We need the same passion for educational change. Each village and town must have accessibility to BOOK. Different organizations working together can run Donate a Book Program, for this a well organized campaign must be launched in schools, colleges and universities to collect old readable books (not text book) for libraries regarding different subjects- history, literature, economics, psychology, story books etc,.Studnets must be encouraged to donate a single book contributing their role for the uplift of education in Pakistan.

Administering these libraries will not be a duck soup. These have to be designed in such a way as to help them self supportive. In small towns people get books on rent form book shops-giving 3 to 5 rupees per book. If these book lovers pay 300 rupees annual fee (non refundable) a library can meet some of its expenditures. The library can arrange for seminars. Lectures, educational festivals and even different art and craft courses can be offered to collect some funds. They can be turned not only into knowledge centers but skill centers as well. Career counseling can be another service a library can provide to students.Locla banks, factory and mill owners, and influential people can donate in terms of money (annual funds) or books .

For convincing people to join a library an awareness campaign regarding utility of libraries must be launched. To popularize different books in a library, people from different fields of life can be motivated to be part of library.e.g.

Different messages for different strata of society be advertised to make library part of a community. When people will see road to progress they will make their library a Super Library.

Where there is library, there is progress.

An exemplary and ideal library can be a foundation for many others.
